Being composed of 24 well-known research institutions of China, Zhonghao Chenguang Research Institute of Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. ( Chenguang) was founded in 1965 in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, China . In 1999, Chenguang was transformed to be a major technical enterprise of China specialized in R&D and manufacturing of fluoropolymer material. It is now wholly owned by ChemChina, with employee approx. 2100, total assets RMB 2.3 billion , and company area 9 million square meters.
Chenguang was one of the first enterprises to engage in new chemical materials development . It specializes in organic fluorine and organic silicon new materials R & D and production, with products in 20 categories and over 200 varieties, which are widely used in the automobile, electronics, petroleum, chemical, and textile industries. It has more than 500 scientific research developments, more than 250 of which are at the national and provincial level, and more than 90 patents.
Chenguang has pushed the industrialization of scientific and technological discoveries in accordance with modern enterprise requirements and has ISO9001: 2008 quality management system, ISO14001: 2004 environmental management system, GB/T28001-2001 occupational health and safety management system, ISO 10012: 2003 measuring and testing system. It has a total Fluoropolymer production capacity of 20,000 tons/year, and operations scattered across China and in other countries and regions, with a production scale and technology that are advanced for China.
It has developed from an organization on the brink of collapse to a leading fluorosilicone new chemical materials enterprise and has increased its annual income from several million yuan to more than two billion. It has also become the leading enterprise to incorporate scientific research, industrial production, and service in basic fluorine chemical raw materials, intermediates, monomers, polymers and products. Its strengths in the organic fluorine industry put it at the top, and have given it high-speed, sustainable development and success in industrializing scientific and technological developments. It has been recognizes as a "national high-tech enterprise", "national innovation-oriented enterprise", a "national government organization and private enterprise intellectual property rights demonstration unit", "environmentally friendly enterprise" (for Zigong), "national new materials industrialization base" (Zigong), and "national science and technology innovation base core enterprise" (Zigong). In addition, its "Chenguang" brand has been named a famous Chinese brand.
In 2011, Chenguang's Scientific and Technological Achievements Industrialization Development Management of Research-oriented Enterprises took first prize in the 17th National Enterprise Management Modern Innovations awards. It also ranked among the top 500 Chinese chemical companies and the top 500 Sichuan province industrial enterprises in best benefits and size. It was among the top 30 enterprises in the chemical materials and products industry in size and was recognized as an "Advanced unit in the integration of the national petroleum and chemical industry" and "Model national enterprise with excellent performance".
In May 2011, it cooperated with the Sichuan Institute of Technology in establishing a "Graduate practice base" and, in November, was recognized as a "Sichuan province postdoctoral innovation base". On November 16, the Institute's enterprise technology center was declared a "State enterprise technical center" by the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, General Administration of Customs, and the State Tax Administration. In December, it was recognized as a "National innovation-oriented enterprise"by the Ministry of Science and Technology, SASAC, and the National Federation of Trade Unions.
Chenguang will highlight its organic fluorine developments as its main business, in accordance with ChemChina's "new science, new future" strategy and the Haohua Corp's "accelerating the development of fluorine chemicals" idea, under the "12th Five-Year" Plan, and concentrate its resources, strengthen its main industries, stick to scientific and technological innovation, and further industrialize its discoveries. It will also turn its attention to the ChemChina Haohua Fluorine Chemical Technology Industrial Park for technological innovation, an industrial cluster, informatization, and internationalizing its standards. It wants to build a world-class chemical company with sustainable economic and social values, one that is resource saving, environmentally friendly and safe.
Chenguang expects to become a world-class fluorine chemical enterprise within five years and contribute to western China's economic development. To do this, it will respond to the provincial government's call for scientific and technological innovation and follow the developmental path of "scientific and technological innovation, optimal resource allocation, and increased industrialization of findings". It will also follow an industrialization path that is first class, environmentally sound, with sustainable development, concentrating on domestic and international market demand for top organic fluorine materials, innovation technology, and scientific and technological achievements.
